We have a new subwoofer available now, the 21.0LX that bridges the gap between the 21.0 and the 21.0L, in size, price, and overall performance. It excels in ultra high output with very low distortion and provides more output than the 21.0L over 40hz, and more output than both the 21.0 and 21.0L under 30hz, along with lower overall distortion than anything else we have ever offered, making it the best sounding subwoofer we have designed to date, and with the proven reputation our products have in this aspect already this really is an accomplishment we are very proud of. The driver used in this new subwoofer is also available as a drop in upgrade for existing 21.0L's, providing everything the 21.0LX offers other than the smaller cabinet size.
We are working on something even more extreme, as a new "flagship subwoofer" it has been on the drawing board for years, but due to the level at which this design pushes the envelope there were many details to work out as almost everything for it requires custom tooling and new manufacturing methods to work, we have worked out almost everything and are about ready to start working on it. It shares two traits with the 24.0 mentioned above, that is it is a 24" driver, and the cabinet can be about the same size. Similarities to anything else end there. Here is a general rundown of the features;
Driver would be underhung with;
Underpole Neo magnets, conical segmented ring system with venting through, and 4" diameter pole vent, think halfway between neo radial and the common under pole slug, so the pole vent size is kept large for low turbulence, magnet volume is high, and is kept far enough from the coil to stay cool.
10" diameter voice coil, quad 4ohm flat wire.
Full aluminum sleeve over pole, maybe even aluminum sleeve outside the coil too, I think we can keep the normalized inductance to 1mH/ohm or less so upper bass performance should not be compromised even considering the massive coil.
Solid carbon fiber cone/former/dustcap, as one piece structure.
The cabinet would be about 28" wide 28" high 24" deep with curved sided cabinet nice finish etc. The amplifier would be a 4 x 2400 watt unit, one channel per coil, so 9600 RMS total, we have the rack version from the 18.2 or we can do a plate version built in like we used on some custom 21.2's we did last year.
