The product page for the 21.0LX is now up, also we have a demo Master/Slave pair available to ship now for %20 off. See specials page.
Funk Audio has moved. As we have been growing at a good steady pace since we started out, these past couple years our old shop was starting to get quite tight and some processes where being severely bottle-necked leading to long lead times and at times chain reaction delays on orders following behind a project with an unexpected delay were starting to become an issue, as we simply did not have the space to move the delayed project aside and move on. These issues are now a thing of the past, our new shop is over twice the size, and even considering the time it took to move our lead times have not grown through the move, albeit a few projects that are in progress during the move are a little behind now, things are really getting into gear now and our production capacity is much greater, so we expect lead times to go down over the next couple months.
First off we have a little dual 10" subwoofer available for sale. Its a nice little unit for a great price. See specials page for details.
We have a new subwoofer available now, the 21.0LX that bridges the gap between the 21.0 and the 21.0L, in size, price, and overall performance. It excels in ultra high output with very low distortion and provides more output than the 21.0L over 40hz, and more output than both the 21.0 and 21.0L under 30hz, along with lower overall distortion than anything else we have ever offered, making it the best sounding subwoofer we have designed to date, and with the proven reputation our products have in this aspect already this really is an accomplishment we are very proud of. Please contact us for details and/or to place an order before the product page is published, this first pair is being finished up this week so we will have the product page up within the next few weeks. The driver used in this new subwoofer is also available as a drop in upgrade for existing 21.0L's, providing everything the 21.0LX offers other than the smaller cabinet size.
We are working on something even more extreme, as a new "flagship subwoofer" it has been on the drawing board for years, but due to the level at which this design pushes the envelope there were many details to work out as almost everything for it requires custom tooling and new manufacturing methods to work, we have worked out almost everything and are about ready to start working on it. It shares two traits with the 24.0 mentioned above, that is it is a 24" driver, and the cabinet can be about the same size. Similarities to anything else end there. Here is a general rundown of the features;
Driver would be underhung with;
Underpole Neo magnets, conical segmented ring system with venting through, and 4" diameter pole vent, think halfway between neo radial and the common under pole slug, so the pole vent size is kept large for low turbulence, magnet volume is high, and is kept far enough from the coil to stay cool.
10" diameter voice coil, quad 4ohm flat wire.
Full aluminum sleeve over pole, maybe even aluminum sleeve outside the coil too, I think we can keep the normalized inductance to 1mH/ohm or less so upper bass performance should not be compromised even considering the massive coil.
Solid carbon fiber cone/former/dustcap, as one piece structure.
The cabinet would be about 28" wide 28" high 24" deep with curved sided cabinet nice finish etc. The amplifier would be a 4 x 2400 watt unit, one channel per coil, so 9600 RMS total, we have the rack version from the 18.2 or we can do a plate version built in like we used on some custom 21.2's we did last year. If anyone is interested in getting involved with this project please contact us, and or join the discussion here on Databass.
Finally, We are also running very low on the veneer clearance specials, we are down to only enough of each for one subwoofer or a small pair of speakers.
Well we decided to change some of our changes mentioned in the last post. We have decided on a full new selection of standard finishes for all products, some product pages are done now, see 18.0 page for the new lineup. The rest will be done over the next few days. Some prices are being adjusted as well, nothing to major though. We are also finally getting to filling out the veneers page showing the standard options as we as pictures of custom finishes. The pictures are captioned so you can see what each one is. I have also gone through and captioned all the pictures in the gallery page.
Also coming up very soon is a Veneer clearance sale, some surplus veneers we have been gathering up we will be offering for some products at a discount.
The first pair of 21.0L's are going to be completed soon. The Intro Pricing will be available until just after they are finished pictures are posted. This first pair is being finished in high gloss Mahogany Crotch. Here are some pictures in the works.
Test results are up for our 21.0 on Data-Bass. Came out as just as we expected.
This started off as a custom project, but the results were so spectacular we just have to make it a standard product. This is a main speaker with a range of 80hz-30khz. Featuring dual 12" bass drivers in a front loaded horn, with a co-axially mounted waveguide/horn loaded planar mid tweeter. They are powered with our 6x500watt amplifier with DSP optimized crossover.
Contact us for more details and to order.
We have been working on these a while, very customized, and they are finally complete and shipping out. Carbon fiber wrapped with clear anodized aluminum face plate and top/bottom plates.
Also the first production 15.H subwoofers are finished and starting to ship out.
And its also new equipment day at Funk Audio.
Well as usual the fall/winter is getting busy for us, production is ramping up but lead times are climbing as well. For most products we are up to around 10 weeks, more for custom orders. Here are some pictures of some current projects in the shop. Production on the 15.H front loaded horn subwoofers, and the custom 8.2P's in carbon fiber/aluminum that have been waiting for parts, that will be arriving soon, are being finished up. We made just two small changes to the 15.H from the prototype; we moved the driver access panel to the back from the side and cut our logo in the front brace.
